Brothers Martin and Olivier Bouygues own about 20% of their eponymous industrial conglomerate Bouygues Group, a $35 billion firm that operates in more than 100 countries in construction, telecoms and media. Martin has been chairman and CEO of the company for more than two decades, while brother Olivier is the deputy chief executive and the CEO of the family holding company, SCDM. Their father started the firm in 1952. The construction arm of the firm employs over 50,000 people and operates in over 80 countries including France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Canada, Mexico, Singapore and India. Bouygues Telecom is the third largest telecom operator in France. The brothers also own famed winery Chateau Montrose, which they purchased in 2006. Martin is a close friend of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and he is the godfather of Sarkozy’s son. He was awarded the prestigious Legion d’Honneur in July 2010.
