Paul McCartney | A Greatest Singer

Sir James Paul McCartney CH MBE (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He gained worldwide fame as the bass guitarist and singer for the rock band the Beatles, widely considered the most popular and influential group in the history of popular music. His songwriting partnership with John Lennonremains the most successful in history. After the group disbanded in 1970, he pursued a solo career and formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine,More info:wiki

#9        Paul McCartney’s 40 Greatest Solo Songs ,More info:rollingstone

“I’m proud of the Beatle thing,” Paul McCartney told Rolling Stone in 1978. “It was great, and I can go along with all the people you meet on the street who say you gave so much happiness to so many people. I don’t think that’s corny.” Even though it was Paul’s 1970 solo debut that marked the end of the Beatles, it was Paul’s post-Beatle career that was truest to the band’s world-hugging, happiness-spreading vision, as he channeled his own changing inspirations and desires into beloved hits like “Maybe I’m Amazed,” “Jet” and “Band on the Run,” as well as genius obscurities like “Monkberry Moon Delight.” Our ranking of his 40 greatest solo songs is sure to start some arguments (his banned stoner-anthem rocker “Hi, Hi, Hi” makes the top 10 and his radio-dominating global smash “My Love” isn’t here at all), and the picks run from pop to folk to punk and disco and beyond, as well as a few silly love songs — some of the greatest of all time, in fact.

To coincide with the release of his new album Egypt Station tomorrow, former Beatle Paul McCartney has been teasing details on social media of a “secret” gig he’s planning in New York City that’s set for tomorrow night.

In keeping with a kind of freewheeling experimentation with technology that’s characterized his later years and recent releases, from toying with VR to writing a one-off song that plays at the end of the Destiny video game, Macca is teaming up with YouTube to livestream the show worldwide. It’s being billed as a “YouTube Original” and is set for 8 p.m. eastern time.

#1        Paul McCartney’s 75th Birthday: 4 Things You May Not Know About the Beatle,More info:thewrap

When Paul McCartney wrote “When I’m 64,” he couldn’t have imagined that when he reached that age anyone would still be thinking about The Beatles.

This weekend he turns 75, and McCartney still boasts one of the best live acts around. At his age, he can still push three hours on stage. And years after his prime with The Beatles, McCartney was and is still a consistent hit maker, whether it was collaborating with John Lennon, Wings, Michael Jackson or Kanye West.

Despite McCartney’s enormous legacy, in some circles he’s still viewed as the “cute Beatle.” But his influence on the British rock band was far more significant than his fun-loving, pop star persona let on.
