Michael Jackson’s family have issued a statement saying they’re “furious” about a new documentary that details allegations of sexual abuse by the late pop star. The documentary, which runs almost four hours, just premiered at Sundance and will hit HBO in March.

The film is called Leaving Neverland, and centers on the stories of two men who say Jackson abused them when they were boys. The film’s director, Dan Reed, acknowledges that the men previously denied having been abused, and even testified in court in Jackson’s defense when the star faced other allegations of abuse. Speaking at Sundance, he explained, “That’s why this film became four hours because it’s a story you have to follow from the beginning and weave across two decades […] it is so potentially confusing.”

I hated Accounting.

I hated it so much that I waited until my senior year in college to get that class out of the way. I was poor and didn’t buy books. But I had to buy that accounting book and when I cracked that book open and saw terms like, “abatement, absorption cost, accrual basis, bequest, debenture, etc,’ I knew I was in trouble.

Like the language that lawyers use, accountants have their own language. Thousands of words like those up there…and you have to figure out if you’re supposed to add or subtract from your account based on them words? No cheat sheet or nothing? I was happy to get a D- in that class, celebrated like Arsenal won the Champions League or Senegal won the World Cup.

A long term friend to late king of pop, Michael Jackson, Michael Jacobshagen, has revealed how the legendary musician predicted he would be murdered in handwritten notes he gave him weeks before he died of a drugs overdose in 2009.

The letters will bolster the belief of Jackson’s daughter, Paris and sister La Toya, who have insisted that the King of Pop was unlawfully killed.

In the 13 messages, Jackson said, “They are trying to murder me.
“I am scared about my life.”

The existence of the messages was revealed for the first time by the 34-year-old German businessman Jacobshagen, who maintained a two-decade-long friendship with Michael Jackson.

How should we remember Michael Jackson — by his art or by his actions? That debate raged in real time on Sunday night, when HBO premiered the first half of Leaving Neverland, its explosive new documentary about two men who say they were sexually abused by Jackson when they were children. Jackson’s estate didn’t sit still while the documentary aired, however. About 20 minutes into the premiere, the singer’s official Twitter account posed a link to his 1992 concert special, Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour (which, at two hours and 20 minutes, is the same length as the first half of the documentary). The estate is set to release another special, Live at Wembley Stadium, when the second half of Leaving Neverland airs on Monday night.

I have taken much grief over the years—and received many death threats—from zealous Michael Jackson fans who have been unhappy with my investigative coverage of their idol.

Since 1993, I have reported on the Jackson saga on television, radio, and in print. To his fans, the King of Pop was a benevolent and misunderstood saint of sorts who was persecuted by me and other journalists who had the audacity to report what trusted sources told us about Jackson’s private life: the disfiguring cosmetic surgeries, the drug and alcohol abuse, the constant companionship of young boys, the baffling short-lived marriages.

On Monday, HBO aired the second and final installment of Leaving Neverland, a four-hour documentary that shares two separate, in-depth allegations of sexual abuse against superstar Michael Jackson. The two subjects of the documentary, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, both came to Jackson’s defense after the pop star was accused of sexually abusing Jordan Chandler in 1993 (that case eventually settled out of court). Robson also testified during the 2003 Jackson trial; as The Daily Beast’s Kevin Fallon reported, “[Robson’s] testimony is credited with convincing the jury that Jackson was innocent. In 2013, Robson revealed publicly that he had lied on the stand.”
