The Tribune Tower is a neo-Gothic skyscraper located at 435 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It was the home of the Chicago Tribune, Tribune Media, and tronc, Inc., formerly known as Tribune Publishing. WGN Radio (720 kHz) originated broadcasts from the building until moving to 303 Wacker Drive in June, 2018. The last WGN Radio broadcast emanated from the Tribune Tower on June 18, 2018. The ground level houses the large restaurant Howells & Hood (named for the building’s architects), whose patio overlooks nearby Pioneer Court and Michigan Avenue. CNN’s Chicago bureau was also located in the building. It is listed as a Chicago Landmark and is a contributing property to the Michigan–Wacker Historic District. The original Tribune Tower was built in 1868, but was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. In early 2018, work began on converting the entire office building into condominiums, expected to be completed by 2020,More info:wiki

A team of developers looks to shake up Chicago’s skyline with a striking 96-story skyscraper slated to rise just east of Tribune Tower.
At a public meeting on Monday, Chicago developer Golub & Co. and LA-based partner CIM Group debuted a plan for both the new tower as well as the adaptive reuse of the 1925 neo-Gothic Tribune Tower into luxury condominiums. The venture purchased the landmarked building and adjacent parcels for $240 million in 2016.
While earlier reports placed the height of the new building at 1,388 feet, the newly revealed design now tops out at 1,422 feet. At that level, the proposed skyscraper will eclipse both Trump International Hotel & Tower and the under-construction Vista Tower while coming up just 29 feet shy of the roof of Chicago’s Willis (formerly Sears) Tower.
Penned by internationally renowned tall tower specialist Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the plan for the slender addition contains a 200-key luxury hotel, 439 rental apartments, 125 for-sale condominiums, and 430 parking spaces.

While Chicago’s iconic Tribune Towers is undergoing a conversion from office building to condo tower, a 1,388-foot-tall steel and glass tower could sprout up next door. Tribune Tower’s owners, the Los Angeles-based CIM Group and Chicago-based Golub & Co, have revealed plans to build what could be Chicago’s second tallest skyscraper.
After being sold in 2016 for $240 million to private developers, the top floors of the 36-story, Gothic Revival-styled Tribune Tower have been undergoing demolition since last October. While the building’s facade and main lobby were landmarked in 1989, no such protections exist for the interiors, and Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) is overseeing the conversion of what was once offices for Tribune Media into 165 condo units.
