Perhaps one of the best-known hotels in the Phoenix metro area, the Arizona Biltmore bears the title “jewel of the desert” even after more than 85 years. Over those years, it saw plenty of remodeling and changes but still retains its classic charm.
Built in 1929, the Biltmore showcases the influence of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Writer. Its gilded guest list includes Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Irving Berlin — he penned the classic “White Christmas” while staying there — and just about every president in office since it opened.
Today, as a Waldorf Astoria Resort, it defines old-school luxury with exclusive restaurants including a High Tea room off the lobby, a spa and salon, tennis and 8 pools, including one with a 92-foot water slide tucked into the classic outdoor decor. If blue tile and peace and quiet are more your style, don’t miss the Catalina pool. It was said to be Marilyn’s fave.

Project Background
The Arizona Biltmore is an historic property designed by architect Albert Chase McArthur in the Frank Lloyd Wright tradition. The expansion of the property required a pattern and design guidance that would not only echo the 1929 aesthetic, but be approved by the design committee and be a useful element in architectural screening.
APPROACH
Gensler commissioned Parasoleil to research the “Biltmore Block” design, in its many forms, and create a consistent pattern to be made structural in copper. Uriah Bueller visited the property to document the variations and sketch how they might interpret the design into cladding. Parasoleil’s concern was in mounting the panels directly to the window mullions, but the property found their own solutions for window cleaning.

#2 Deal of the day: $99 summer special at Arizona Biltmore,More info:azcentral
The Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in central Phoenix just launched a $99 summer special on travel deals site Travelzoo.
The preseason sale is the best offer to date this year for a luxury resort because buyers don’t have to pay the Biltmore’s nightly $28 resort fee. Arizona Grand Resort is offering a $99 special via Travelzoo but the resort fee is an additional $47 per night.
The Biltmore deal is good for stays between June 18 and Aug. 31. Blackout dates are June 28-July 30, July 26-31 and Aug. 16-18. Other dates may sell out as Travelzoo deals are popular. The $99 special must be booked by April 12 unless it sells out sooner.
Travelers can check availability and make reservations directly through Travelzoo. A free e-mail subscription is required for those who aren’t Travelzoo members.
The Biltmore, which recently completed a multimillion dollar renovation, is also offering a $99 special on its website, but the resort fee is extra.
